The xx are back!

The xx have announced three intimate London shows this month.

To ensure everyone has an equal chance of attending, tickets will be available through a lottery system. Tickets are priced at £19.50. Entry is open now and closes at 9am on the 8th May

Young Turks at The 100 Club

Last night I went to see a stellar line up of acts hosted by the Young Turks label.


First on the bill was Kwes and the thunderous talking from the East London crowd that schlepped to Soho could have ruined it. It was on what seemed like a fragile ballad that it all got kind of lost.  There was however enough funk and fuzz complementing his sparse and efforless vocal on the rest of the set and especially on Get Up to impress. Regurgitation of Press Release: 100 Club Emerging Artists Media Alert

We were nearly gutted when The 100 Club nearly closed, so when Converse “stepped” in ( HaH AHa AHa ) we were delighted. Now they are putting the venue to good use with some free gigs, the next of which is on 28th Sept.

Race Horses

I was in Wales last week and saw Race Horses at Gwyl Chwilog festival. It was an unusual do, a big tent set up in the grounds of a country pub with the main attraction appearing to be the bar with Race Horses brilliant set being mostly ignored by the audience, as was the band on before them, Yr Ods, who also put on a great performance despite the complete lack of interest.
