Well, this is a bummer.

Today would have been the 43rd birthday of songwriter Elliott Smith. I celebrate it every year, and every year it makes me sad. So I’m passing my bummer on to you… If you follow the link on his name, kill rock stars are doing special releases of his material today for his would-be birthday including a reissue of either/or and a digital release of Elliott Smith: the early years. Listen to new Beach House album

When I first heard of beach house I thought it was one of those ministry of sound hed kandi albums with the cartoon semi-porn on the cover… needless to say I was pleasantly surprised and spent most of 2008 listening to the album ‘Devotion’ and perving over Victoria Legrand. However this isn’t 2008, this is 2012 and there are so many good bands that you either challenge or die. Does the new album hold water? Have a listen for free on the link below and judge for yourself.

Record Store Day.

It’s that time of year again, thee official record Store day and with vinyl sales on the up, and records stores with bars what better way to spend the day then finding that elusive vinyl copy of Two Princess by Spin Doctors. Record store day even helps you out by finding the closest record store to your home . I will be going to a party here but I’m not arriving until I scour the record shops for this gem! They are called Allah Las. Listen below

Lower Dens

The Baltimore band Lower Dens has released another song from their upcoming album ‘Nootropics’ set for release on April 30th. ‘Propagation’ is a slow burner with perfectly placed vocals from Jana Hunter. I am excited for the album but I’m even more excited about the tour dates.
