The Guest List – 64 Bar Orchestra

This episode of The Guest List is The 64bar Orchestra show. It has been compiled by Cardiff based DJ and producer, DJ Kovas and features nothing but beats from the 64 bar music family.

Arge and The Brain September 2011

Arge and The Brain are back from a summer break with a show chock-full of brand new electronic treats. A slice of the cinematic with Deadly Avenger and Gramatik. Stunning remixes from TV On The Radio, Everything Everything and Cut Chemist. As always a good representation form France with Yuksek and Birdy Nam Nam. Plus some beautiful vocals from Purity Ring, Lana Del Rey, Little Dragon and Björk.

Kelpe – Same New EraAvailable soon on 7”. In the mean time, here is a fun scratch vid for one of the most satisfying beats + bleeps tracks you are likely to hear this summer. What is great to hear in this, is how Kelpe’s live shows with drummer Chris Walmsley are informing his studio work. This recording feels like the best of both worlds – you can hear the air in the room that much electronica is lacking.  A word of caution however, whilst I was playing it through, my 3 1/2 daughter said “I don’t like that sounds, it sounds like a robot and robots can be dangerous” .  I wouldn’t listen to her though, she doesn’t know shit.

64 Bar Music is back and all is right with the world.

We got an exciting email yesterday with the news that an great music project that started life in the ninjatune forum is set to return in March, and even better, they teased us with a track from Andy Digitonal :

Eighteen by 64barmusic

A simple concept – Musicians and DJs write music with two rules; a tempo & as you may have guessed, a bar count. The resultant pieces of music are then blended into something more than the sum of it’s parts. A mesmeric mix where no individual track outstays it’s welcome. It is fluid, fast moving and surprising. The lack of parameters leave the doors wide open for some unexpected interpretations. You never know what is round the corner.
At times it’s reminiscent of the masterpiece 70 minutes of madness, but what’s particularly enjoyable is the knowledge that the guys behind it are just in it for the kick of making something good.
