The less you know about Laura Marling’s residency with the folk behind Secret Cinema the better. That said, I went last Friday, and it was spellbinding, enchanting, and spectacular, and you’re in luck because if you haven’t made it down there yet, they’re releasing more tickets for an extra date tomorrow at 1pm from here.
The unexpected and unusual performance of this was without question one of the highlights.
It’s funny how these things happen; Nick Drake is back on my radar after I recently caught an incredibly crafted radio documentary by Charles Maynes about the singer called Three Records from Sundown which you can listen to here.
The documentary immerses you in the sound and asthetic of Nick Drake and heavily features Nick’s producer Joe Boyd. Now it turns out Joe is hosting an evening to celebrate the life and work of Nick at Wilton’s Music Hall next Tuesday. The evening will feature performances from Robyn Hitchcock, Green Gartside, Neill MacColl, Kate St John and special guests Paul Smith (from Maximo Park) and Olivia Chaney.
