Blessed with an amazing voice, some seriously good song writing skills and on this evidence some absolute tunes David C Clements should go very far indeed. He is very new which excites us immensely to see what else he has up his sleeve. You can catch him supporting Foy Vance at the Union Chapel on 26th January. Cat Power King Rides By

If you want to fall into a deep hypnotic state that’s not caused by excessive Christmas binge eating then this reworking of the 1996 Cat Power song King Rides By should do the trick. This epic and beautiful new version redone for the Festival of Children and The Ali Forney Center sees the track redone and features boxer Manny Pacquiao in the video. From his debut album this is the beautiful new single, Ragdoll from 24 year old Londoner Tom the Lion. The album, ‘The Adventures of Tom the Lion’ was Rough Trade’s record of the month in November and if it’s good enough for them then it’s good enough for us.

The Maccabees – Pelican

They are back!! This is the brilliant new single, Pelican from The Maccabees and is argueably the best thing they have done. I defy you not to listen to it at least 10 times today. It’s released on Jan 1st, followed by their new album, Given to the Wild which is released on the 9th.
